| The sugar refining industry consumes large quantities of lime for precipitating the mineral or organic impurities that are mixed in with the sugar in the liquid extracted from the beet. Animal feeds

| Limestone with a high calcium content and containing low amounts of insoluble hydrochloric compounds is an essential component for feeds for poultry, pigs and cattle, to strengthen egg-shells and avoid bone decalcification.
