Calcination and production of quicklime

Part of the extracted stone, selected according to its chemical composition and granulometry, is calcinated at temperatures  exceeding 900°C in two different types of kiln (vertical & horizontal) fired by predominantly gas.

Calcium carbonate then dissociates to yield calcium oxide (quicklime = CaO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) according to the reaction:

quicklime is produced

The pebble-lime thus produced is screened, crushed or ground and stored according to the characteristics demanded by the customers.

A selected part of the quicklime production is further processed in the production of hydrated lime.
