Part of the extracted stone, selected according to its chemical composition and granulometry, is calcinated at temperatures exceeding 900°C in two different types of kiln (vertical & horizontal) fired by predominantly gas.
Calcium carbonate then dissociates to yield calcium oxide (quicklime = CaO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) according to the reaction:

quicklime is produced
The pebble-lime thus produced is screened, crushed or ground and stored according to the characteristics demanded by the customers.
A selected part of the quicklime production is further processed in the production of hydrated lime. |
